When it comes to sustaining patient health outcomes, compliance and adherence to medication regimens are critically important, especially as providers manage patients with complex care needs and multiple medications. But, with provider burnout and staffing shortages at an all-time high, an efficient solution is critical. The use of automated medication management workflows to decrease provider burnout, while improving both medication compliance and patient engagement, is the way forward.

Melissa Welch serves as the Chief Medical Officer at Health Catalyst. An accomplished, senior physician executive with 35 years of leadership, management, and healthcare strategic impacts, Melissa’s career spans private and public healthcare sectors. She has successfully built physician and allied clinical, quality and pharmacy teams, stabilized operations, and executed critical value-based care results. Prior tenures include Vice President of Clinical Quality, Network and Markets Support at Blue Shield of California, Head of Regional Care Management at Aetna, and Chief Medical Officer of San Francisco’s Community Health Network. Melissa began her career as the Medical Director of a community public health clinic. She has an MPH in Epidemiology from U.C. Berkeley, is a graduate of Harvard Medical School, and is Board Certified in Primary Care and Internal Medicine. Dr. Welch completed her clinical training at U.C. San Francisco/ San Francisco General Hospital and Clinics.
